Adele opens up on the Spice Girls, weight loss and finding 'purpose' as a mother in stunning Vogue shoot

Adele opened up about family and fame as she stunned in a new set of “pre-Raphelite damsel” shots for US Vogue.
The Hello singer said becoming an mum to now three-and-a-half-year-old son Angelo gave her “purpose” as she posed for photographer Annie Leibovitz in designer dresses from Alexander McQueen to Dior.
Talking about parenthood, the 27 year old said: “I can’t have any other junk in my head to worry about as well. (Angelo) makes me very proud of myself. When I became a parent, I felt like I was truly living. I had a purpose, where before I didn’t.
“My main thing is Mum, then it’s me, then it’s work. I think I had to take the right amount of time off to let people miss me.”
Adele, who is in a relationship with Old Etonian Simon Konecki, revealed in the interview that she’d given up smoking, drinking a bottle of wine a day and embraced working out – helping her feel the best she ever has.
She said: “I was just shocked that all of a sudden I was 25! But actually I like myself more than ever. I feel so comfortable in my own skin. I really like how I look, I like who I am, I like everyone that I surround myself with. Obviously I have insecurities but they don’t hold me back.”
But her weight loss has brought its own problems – a new-found shopping habit.
She said: “I was trying to get some stamina for my tour so I lost a bit of weight. Now I fit into normal, off-the-shelf clothes — which is a really big problem for me!”
But Adele is still the girl from Tottenham she’s always been as she took her Vogue interviewer to Argos and showed him the “Mum” charm necklace she once “couldn’t wait” to have.
She also credited the Spice Girls with helping her believe in her dream to be a pop star.
She said: “People always think I joke about this but the Spice Girls blew up when I was seven. And seeing them coming from a humble background — there was hope in it. It was really a massive part of my life when the whole Girl Power thing happened.”
But despite her latest album 25 going to number one around the globe, Adele admitted she still worried about being good enough.
She said: “I’m only touring for the fans, to see the people that changed my life. There’s no need for me to tour. I’ll always be nervous, worrying whether I’m going to be good enough. And the adrenaline is so exhausting.”
Adele begins her world tour in Belfast on February 29.
